A Texas doughnut shop owner almost lost a lot of dough, the green kind.

But thanks to a Good Samaritan, he not only got his money back, he had his faith in his fellow man restored, too.

"We were just heading out on our daily routine and I saw a bag laying on the side of the road and saw that it was a money bag. I just stopped and picked it up," said Danny DeLaRosa. "I opened it and saw the money in there. And the guy was asking me like what I was going to do with it. I said I'm gonna take it and turn it in," he says.

The married father who spends his day cleaning up Alvin city streets for a living says once he saw the money he was stunned.

"I was shocked. I was really surprised," he says.

That's because police say there was 7-thousand-dollars in the bag.

But instead of keeping it or spending it, Danny turned it over to his boss, who eventually turned it back over to a Friendswood doughnut shop owner who lost the bag while being distracted.

"He set the money bag down on the car and he forgot something inside. So he went back in and I guess he just forgot he did that and he took off going to work and lost it. He was shocked that someone is still honest. He was happy, very happy," says Andre Roberts, DeLaRosa's boss.

So was Danny, who says in the end, the money wasn't worth more than his honor.

My wife was like, she could believe it, you know. She was like, she was happy for me.
