First Ever NWA Fashion Week

Monday marked the start of the first ever NWA Fashion Week.

Events will happen every day this week but the focus of the six days of high fashion is much more.

Martin Tinnin of Bach Clothiers in Fayetteville said, "That's first and foremost, that it's non-profit and that all the proceeds go back to the charities that are involved."

Tinnin said he wasn't quick to take his business down the runway, until he knew that giving back was sewn into the very fiber of this event. "One thing that I was hesitant about was to make sure all of us business owners had time to really put towards the cause and the charities.  And it turned out to be more than I ever expected."

In all, seven local organizations will benefit from a week of chic clothing in our corner of the Natural State.

Co-founder Danielle Vaughan said, "I think you'd be hard pressed to find a community that is as passionate about philanthropy as Northwest Arkansas."

As of Monday, more than $20,000 had been raised in ticket sales, and more donations are expected throughout the week.

Vaughan added, "We really didn't anticipate that it would be as big as it is the first year."

Leaving expectations for 2013, as sky high as those high heels headed down the runway.

The seven charities are:  The American Cancer Society, Art Amiss, Restore Humanity, 7Hills Homeless Center, The Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Spay Arkansas, and The Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter.
