March Madness will soon consume Arkansas as the Sun Belt Conference Tournament tips off Saturday afternoon in Hot Springs. Arkansans will have plenty to cheer for with both UALR and ASU men's and women's teams making the field.
Both UALR teams have byes in the tournament but both ASU squads will have to win four games in four days in order to win the Sun Belt Tournament and make the NCAA Tournament.
The Arkansas State men's team is going to be one of the dark horses entering the tournament according to coaches around the league.
The Red Wolves come into the tournament having only won two of their last five games but the three losses were by a combined eight points.
Head Coach John Brady has relied heavily on his starters for lots of minutes this year and has no intention of resting them in hopes having fresh legs as the tournament progresses. He said, "Everything that we're doing is trying to win the first game regardless of who I have to play or how long they have to play and to think ahead about the next game or the next two games that you need to play. If you don't win the first one, it's a waste of time so we're going to do everything we can to win the first one then once we get ot that point we'll worry about the second one. "
The Red Wolves are scheduled to take on Florida Atlantic in the first round. Tip off is set for 6:15 on Saturday night. The winner will advance to take on regular season champ Middle Tennessee.
