Virginia Driver Ordered to Place Flowers at Grave of Accident Victim

A judge in Louisa County, Virginia is making sure a man convicted in an 18-year-old cold case serves a life sentence, though he'll only spend a year in jail.

Brandon Fields was convicted Wednesday of failing to stop at the scene of an accident in the 1994 death of John Banks.

Prosecutors say Banks' death was a tragic accident and Fields would not have been charged if he had stopped at the scene.

Judge Timothy Sanner sentenced Fields to a year behind bars but added one extra condition after he leaves jail.

Fields will have to place flowers on Banks' grave every year on the date of the victim's death for the rest of his life.

Comments

I'm not sure I understand this, was Mr Fields actually involved inthe accident or did he come up on the accident and just kept driving ? If he was involved its a just sentence. If not involved I think its ridiculous.
