If you've already become a fan of the hit NBC show show "Smash," you might recognize a familiar face.

Arkansas native Ricky Tripp was cast as a dancer on the show. Now, he's back home rehearsing for "The Wiz" at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre.

But just like some characters on "Smash," Tripp says he was so excited and nervous to audition for the show.

"I actually walked away quite defeated, because I didn't think I had it, but my agent called me and was like you booked. I still have the message saved on my phone and I still listen to it, kind of gives me the chills," he said.

It's Tripp's first big break on the small screen. But of course, he loves the stage too. "The Wiz" opens March 9th.

Why wait to see him? Just check out "Smash." It airs Monday night at 9 p.m. on KARK.
