Razorbacks Complete Day Two of Practice

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UA Sports Information)- The Razorbacks continued to practice in the heat on Tuesday as they wrapped up their second day of preseason practice. The Hogs worked out in shorts and helmets for a little over two hours behind Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium while the staff emphasized the importance of teamwork. "I thought we had another good practice today," Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. "We laid another brick and were trying to build a foundation of hard work and team; forget about yourself and do it for your teammates. Its not easy. When it gets hot and were tired we lose some of that concentration level at the end. Weve got to work on that." Nutt noted the improved passing skills of Alex Mortensen and Cole Barthel, but stressed they are still trying to keep snaps among the quarterbacks equal. He also pointed out the play of true freshman Casey Dick. "Alex and Cole both threw the ball better," Nutt said. "Were trying to keep everything equal right now and you earn what you get better on. Casey got a few more reps in individuals and one-on-ones. He did the middle passing drill with the tight ends and backs all by him self." Unlike spring practice, the offensive line is healthy and has welcomed the return of Zac Tubbs. Nutt is pleased with the group, but would still like to have more depth as they bring the freshmen along. "Weve got a little more numbers, but I wish we had Cody Green and youve got to be cautious with Zac," Nutt said. "You cant just throw him in there with a bunch of scrimmage plays right now. Im cautiously optimistic, but I still want more depth there." Tuesday marked the final day of full open practices. Arkansas will practice at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with only the first 20 minutes open.
