FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - For the 10th-consecutive season, Arkansas and LSU will meet in the "Battle of the Golden Boot" on the Friday (Nov. 25) following Thanksgiving in a game televised by CBS Sports.
The Tigers will host the Hogs in the regular season finale for both squads at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. The game is slated to kickoff at 1:30 p.m. CT. In three of the past four seasons, the winner of the Arkansas-LSU game has gone on to represent the western division in the Southeastern Conference Football Championship Game.
The Golden Boot, a nearly 200-pound 24-karat gold statue in the shape of the states of Arkansas and Louisiana, was introduced to the series in 1996. For the past nine seasons, the winner of the Arkansas-LSU game has taken home the traveling trophy.
The Arkansas-LSU matchup is the second game on the Razorbacks 2005 schedule slated for television. Fox Sports Net will televise Arkansas Sept. 17 non-conference game at defending national champion Southern Cal. The Hogs and Trojans will kick things off at 9:15 p.m. CT in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Arkansas opens the season on Sept. 3 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium against Missouri State, formerly known as Southwest Missouri State.
No further television arrangements involving the Razorbacks have been made at this time. Networks may wait until 12 days prior to a game to select that contest for telecast.
