New Yorker Gets $44-Million Hospital Bill

A New Yorker is recovering from sticker shock after he received a 44-million-dollar hospital bill.

The "New York Daily News" reports Alexis Rodriguez got the bill after he was treated for pneumonia at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital.

The unemployed doorman said he almost had an asthma attack after he saw the invoice.

The charge for his outpatient service was actually less than 300 dollars.

Rodriguez was one of several hundred patients who were hit by what's being called a system error.

The company that handles the billing put the man's invoice number in the space that should have contained the amount due.
