Playing Powerball Lottery Now Costs Twice as Much

Updated: January 17, 2012
If you're looking to get rich quick, you'll need to start shelling out more cash in the hopes of hitting it big in the Powerball lottery.

That's because the price of a Powerball ticket has doubled.

The increase from one to two dollars went into effect on Sunday.

Lottery officials say the increase will produce bigger jackpots and better odds of more people winning.

Powerball is played in Arkansas and 41 other states, as well as Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
