U.S. Job Market Opening up

By: Newsroom Solutions
Updated: December 13, 2011
A new survey from Manpower indicates U.S. employers plan to hire more workers in the first-quarter of next year.

Manpower notes it's a sign of growing optimism over the future of the economy.

Its employment index climbed to nine-percent from seven-percent for the October to December period.

It's the first time in a year that the gauge rose.

The boost to employment would increase the odds that consumer spending will sustain recent gains into 2012.

The report shows employers in 12 of 13 industries had a positive hiring outlook.
