Tuesday, the interim Lottery Commission Director told lawmakers to expect $5 million less for scholarships next year.

Julie Baldridge says, overall, lottery sales are higher than last year.

But as lawmakers consider how much money will be available for scholarships, she says she wanted to be overly conservative in her predictions.

She says she can definitely promise $89 million, $5 million than the $94 million generated this year.

Lawmakers could consider to change scholarship amounts during a fiscal session that starts in February but it would take a 2/3 majority to do it.

Lottery sales are higher than last year but there might be less for scholarships? Does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture? Maybe part of the problem is the outrageous salary of some of the lottery employees. If an Arkansan qualifies for the scholarship then it should be divided out equally. Not done through a selection process. This has been so mismanaged from day one according to all of the news reports that have been published sense this started.
