Home Prices Slide, Sales on Uptick

By: Newsroom Solutions
Updated: November 10, 2011
More homes are selling across the nation, and many of them are selling for lower prices.

New figures from the National Association of Realtors show rising sales in every state in this year's third quarter, compared to 2010 numbers for the same period.

Median prices for single family homes dropped in more than two-thirds of the nation's 150 metro areas.

The national median price for a single family home was 169-thousand-500 dollars in this year's third quarter.

That's a drop from almost 178-thousand dollars in 2010's third quarter.

The association's chief economist said the housing market is holding "fairly even."
