College Tuition Still Rising Faster than Inflation

By: Newsroom Solutions
Updated: October 26, 2011
There's a new report out on college tuition as President Obama prepares to outline a plan today to help struggling students manage their student loan payments.

The report from the College Board shows tuition and fees for public four-year universities continue rising faster than the average rate of inflation.

A more than eight-percent increase was noted for the 2011-through-2012 school year for in-state students.

For out-of-state students, costs rose more than five-and-a-half-percent.

Researchers say tuition increases in California had a significant influence on the national average.
