Hail storm damages hundreds of cars

Updated: January 7, 2009
Today insurance adjusters spent most of the day at body shops looking at cars with damage from Friday`s hail storm. The adjusters say they won`t know how many cars were damaged until all the claims are filed, but estimate it could be in the hundreds or possibly the thousands. At one body shop in Jacksonville, estimators saw more than 30 cars before noon. Most cars had at least 50 dents caused by hail. Estimators say it`s the first storm of the year to cause this type of damage. The only way for workers to fix the cars is to pop the dents out from the underside of the metal or to replace the panels.
