breaking news
Senator Blanche Lincoln is trying to draw more attention to a 12 year old girl who grew up in Arkansas, but who lives now in Saudi Arabia with her father. The girl is 12 year old Heidi Al-Omary, who was kidnapped from Jonesboro by her father in 1997. Lincoln spoke for an hour on the U-S Senate floor early Friday morning.. putting off a vote on a Bush administration appointee to call for
action in the girl`s case. Lincoln has said her delay of the vote does not mean she opposes the nomination of U-S Trade Representative Robert J. Portman, who was eventually confirmed after Lincoln stopped speaking. The senator says she just wants someone to take
action to get the girl back to the United States. The Bush Administration has promised to have its national security adviser discuss the matter with Saudi officials.
