Pine Bluff High lowers standards

Updated: January 7, 2009
A change in the graduation requirements at Pine Bluff High School could make it easier for students to get their diploma. The School Board voted to lower its graduation requirements by two units. Right now, seniors must have 24 units, but next year`s graduating class will only need 22. The cut was necessary, according to District Administrators. They say some students transfer to neighborhing high schools that require fewer credits, so they can graduate on time.. taking fewer classes during their final year. The school`s still above the state standards, which requires a student to take 21 units to graduate.
