Arkansas Game And Fish Commission Creates New Wildlife Area

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The state Game and Fish Commission has signed off on the creation of a new wildlife management area in south Arkansas. The proposed wildlife area would include about 60,000 acres in Bradley and Calhoun counties. The proposal would allow the timber company that owns the land to continue harvesting timber in the area, with some restrictions. But state conservation officials would help manage the land and the wildlife there. The area would be open for public hunting and fishing, under some state control. The land is mostly covered with natural pine forest.
