Van Buren County Sheriff`s Deputies searched a suspected puppy mill for the second time Thursday night. Investigators say evidence removed from the Clinton area home during the first search lead them to believe there were also illegal medicines in the home. Investigators say they found a sedative for dogs that only veterinarians are allowed to use. Gloria Jean Crawford owns the property on Blackhill Road. She runs J.C. Kennels where she boarded dogs and sold puppies. Tuesday, investigators searched the two mobile homes on the property and said they found dogs living in their own feces, and living among rodents and dog carcasses. The Van Buren County Humane Society took almost 200 dogs out off the property and are holding them at shelters in Beebe and Pulaski County. Crawford is now facing 163 counts of animal cruelty and 1 count of possession with the intent to deliver for the illegal medication. If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
