Courthouse Questions: Security in Pulaski County

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Controversial cases, elected officials, a steady stream of visitors: all three factors make the Pulaski County Courthouse more visible and vulnerable than many other buildings. For that reason, building supervisors say security is a priority. Early Wednesday morning, though, KARK had no problem entering the building, unchecked by security and able to roam the courthouse halls. While most exterior doors were locked, a maintenance entrance was not. Only after ten minutes were we confronted, and that was by a maintenance worker. The person resposible for building operations says it isn`t supposed to happen that way. Judge Vann Smith, who works in the building, agrees and says he`s concerned about who has access to the building and the times they`re able to gain entry.
