Bill Filed To Check Background Of Hazmat Drivers

The state House of Representatives has approved a bill requiring background checks be completed on commercial drivers who seek a hazardous materials designation. Drivers who already have the designation will be required to have criminal background check completed later this year. The bill now goes to the state Senate for approval. Such legislation is required under the USA Patriot Act. Failure to approve such a bill could risk Arkansas`s eligibility of federal funds.
