Winter Weather Hits Struggling Animal Shelter

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Saline County Humane Society was struggling with overcrowded kennels and underfunded programs... and then winter weather hit. Flimsy kennels were flooded and dogs were left standing in muddy puddles. The rain also delayed construction on new kennels by two months. For now, the dogs are being protected from the wind by a thin layer of plastic sheeting, and the Saline County Humane Society is shipping in loads of gravel to replace the ground that was washed away by the rain.
