Senator Lincoln enters second term

Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) has been sworn in to her second six-year term in the United States Senate. Lincoln was re-elected November 2nd, 2004, and will rank 67th in seniority of the 100 member Senate in the 109th Congress. Lincoln made history on November 3, 1998, when she became the youngest woman ever elected to the United States Senate. She is only the second woman to win a U.S. Senate seat representing Arkansas, following in the footsteps of Hattie Caraway, who was elected in 1932. Lincoln was first sworn in as Arkansasb 32nd U.S. Senator on January 6, 1999. Lincoln was sworn in at an official ceremony Tuesday, January 4th, 2005 at Noon Eastern, and participated in a re-enactment ceremony in the Old Senate Chamber of the U.S. Capitol at 1:30 p.m. Eastern.
