Secretary Of State Looks To Raise Pay Of Employees

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Secretary of State Charlie Daniels is proposing raises for 85 workers in his office. The raises would be higher than the three percent cost-of-living increases that would come in the next two-year budget. Daniels chief deputy Peggy Gram said the state would have to come up with only $150,000 per year to pay for the raises because Daniels is trimming positions. Some legislators are expressing concern about the raises because they want there to be fairness among departments when state raises are given out.
