Report Says Health Department Needs Reorganization

Updated: January 7, 2009
A review of management at the Arkansas Health Department has revealed the agency should streamline its organization so the chain of command is more clear. The report concluded an earlier move to include more team-based elements to running the department did not reduce bureaucracy or improve communication. Health Department Director Fay Boozman says it is worth the extra time it takes to make a decision because more people have a say. But the consultant says there needs to be more clear authority within the agency.
