Updated: January 7, 2009
Residents of Maumelle will head to the polls Tuesday to decide whether they are willing to pay $6 million in bonds. The money would be used for a slew of construction projects ranging from a new city hall, a senior center, a recycling facility, ball fields and an ampitheatre. Mayor Burch Johnson said there`s overwhelming support on the issues and it was the people who decided what projects they wanted to fund. Johnson met with financial advisors who recommended he refinance existing bonds because of the low interest rate. If approved, the bonds would become due in 2018.
