Updated: January 7, 2009
Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System at Cherokee Village has closed several departments. Shut downs are the hospital`s lab, emergency room and in-patient services. Sharp County officials say the closures make for a critical situation. The hospital is run by Tennessee-based Midcare Incorporated. The company says it wants to reopen the hospital to full service as soon as it can. The hospital has more than 100 employees and is Sharp County`s only hospital. The corporation says the shutdown was all related to deficiencies at the lab, which was the subject of a recent unfavorable report.
