Pine Bluff voters elected Carl Redus mayor on
today.
Redus defeated state Senator Brenda Gullett in a runoff
election. According to unofficial results, Redus had 62 percent of
the vote to Gullett`s 38 percent.
Redus and Gullett advanced to the runoff from a crowded November
2nd field. Convicted Alderman Jack Foster failed to advance from
the general election. He was found guilty of a federal extortion
charge shortly before the election.
Redus got 36 percent of the votes cast November 2nd, while
Gullett was supported by 19 percent.
