2 Arkansas Cities Make "Most Dangerous" List

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Crime rates are down in Little Rock and Pine Bluff, but apparently not enough to keep the Arkansas cities off a new list of America`s most dangerous cities. Out of 320 metro areas, Little Rock ranks 24th and Pine Bluff comes in 13th. Little Rock Sgt. Terry Hastings says comparing crime rates in different cities is misleading since police departments handle crime in different ways. He says it`s more useful to look at year-to-year trends within a city. After peaking in 1993, the violent crime rate in Little Rock bottomed out in 2001. Since then, the number of crimes has risen, but police expect the rate to fall again in 2004.
