A 16-year-old from Parthenon has bagged a wallhanger. Kylan McCutcheon of Parthenon shot the 25-point buck -- one of the largest deer ever taken in Arkansas on the opening weekend of the season. The Jasper High School junior said the Newton County buck has an unofficial score of 205 points based on requirements from the Boone and Crockett Club -- just shy of the state record 215 points. It could score higher. The rack cannot be officially scored for 60 days after the deer was taken to give it time to dry. McCutcheon said he was in a ground blind when he spotted the buck chasing a doe. McCutcheon said he estimated that the deer was at least four and a half years old but state officials who examined a photograph estimated the deer could be eight or nine years old.
