Democratic Representative Vic Snyder easily defeated Republican state Representative Marvin Parks to keep his Second District seat in the US House for a fifth term. Snyder held a 64-35 lead in early results. Parks phoned Snyder and has conceded the election. Snyder said in his victory speech that Arkansas is a state at war and that brought the seriousness of election brought home. He also called the high voter turnout a great day in Arkansas democracy.
