Presidential campaigns buying last minute ads

The Democratic National Committee announced Thursday that it will spend 250 thousand dollars on T-V ads in Arkansas supporting John Kerry. This afternoon, state Republicans announced their own $45,000 radio ad campaign for President Bush. Governor Mike Huckabee and Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller each narrate 30 second spots responding to former President Bill Clinton`s radio ad for Democrats. Nine Eleven widow Deena Burnett also narrates a pro-Bush radio ad, saying the president will protect Americans better. But Alyson Low, another Arkansan who lost a loved one on nine eleven, says Bush failed to protect Americans on nine-eleven and actively supports Kerry. DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe said today that the pro-Kerry Television ads would run in the Little Rock, Fort Smith and Jonesboro markets. McAuliffe said the buy would help the Democrats turn the state from red to blue on Election Day. McAuliffe said the ad would focus on prescription drugs, lost jobs and taxes break for the wealthy. He said it would show that Kerry is for working families. He called it a major investment from the party to the state. McAuliffe also said that Bill Clinton`s planned stop in Arkansas on Sunday would be the former president`s final campaign appearance. He said Clinton would head back to New York after the Arkansas stop.
