Police Say They Solved Three 1999 Murders

State police have announced that a man has been charged in the 1999 slaying of Carson Prince, the daughter of a former Little Rock mayor. The suspect is also charged with killing two other young people in Perry County. 19 year old Carson Prince was killed when she tried to get out of the cab of a pickup on the Interstate 430 bridge over the Arkansas River between Maumelle and Little Rock. State police say 38 year-old Stephen Allen Talley of Perryville had picked up the teenager. Her vehicle had just broken down, because he was "looking for someone to rape." Witnesses saw Carson struggle with her attacker in the April 28th, 1999, attack before she fell from the truck. About two months later, police said Talley killed 25 year old Christopher Barnes and then raped and killed 16 year old Barbara Leggitt both of Perryville. Talley told police he murdered Barnes with a shot to the back of the head so he could rape the young woman. Leggitt`s body had never been found, but skeletal remains were found in a place where Talley told police to look. Talley walked into the Perry County Sheriff`s Department at about midnight Wednesday morning and said he needed to talk. Talley told deputies that he had killed three people. State police say Talley was advised of his rights and then provided details of the killing.
