Six Inductees Enter AR Black Hall Of Fame

Six accomplished Arkansans have made it into the Arkansas Black Hall Of Fame. The list includes: Hazel Shanks Hynton, a musician and educator; Pharoah Sanders, a jazz musician; Fatima Robinson, a dancer/choreographer; Dr. Patricia McGraw, a professor and humanitarian, John Stroger, Jr., a political leader and Harold Flowers, an attorney and civil rights leader. Flowers was the only posthumous inductee. Governor Huckabee hosted a reception for the honorees at the mansion and then attended the 12th annual ceremony at the Statehouse Convention Center. All monies raised from the event will go to non-profit organizations benefiting the black community. Past inductees include: poet Maya Angelou; Ebony and Jet magazine publisher John H. Johnson Jr. and former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders, and Former President Bill Clinton.
