County election officials are rushing to get ballots printed for the general election. But the state secretary of state`s office says it will go ahead with alternative plans to ensure Arkansas military personnel overseas get a chance to cast their ballots. Printing was held up for more than a week as the state Supreme Court decided whether independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader`s name would appear on the ballot. Last Friday the high court struck down an lower court decision and ordered Nader`s name included. Earlier on Friday, Secretary of State Charlie Daniels and Arkansas National Guard commander Don Morrow announced that military personel would be allowed to use write-in forms to vote in the election if absentee ballots did NOT reach them in time. Ballots from overseas troops will be counted through November 12th.. ten days after the November Second general election.
