A staged terrorist attack today in Garland County tested the skills of people who would be first responders in a real attack.
About 50 people representing more than a dozen companies and public safety agencies participated in the drill, discussing what they should do in response to fake flooding, chemical spills and injuries caused by the early morning mock terrorist attack in the area.
The scenario for the drill was kept secret until responders were asked to develop a plan of action. A full-scale drill, in which responders will carry out their planned duties, is scheduled for October 21st.
A spokesman says fire and police departments, electric companies
and other organizations use the drills to prepare for possible attacks.
