State Supreme Court Rejects Request For Fees For Lake View Lawyers In School-Funding Lawsuit

The Arkansas Supreme Court has rejected a request for additional fees from attorneys in the Lake View school-funding lawsuit. The lawyers said they were due compensation for work performed this year. The court said that the proceedings after January first are separate from the original case, filed in 1992. The court said the issue of state immunity prevented the awarding of fees for this year`s legal work. The Supreme Court also noted that it had partly ruled on the request in a March eleventh decision that rejected a motion from lawyers Roy C. Lewellen of Marianna and Don Trimble of Little Rock for additional costs and fees for work done in January.
