Presidential candidate Ralph Nader wants
action today in his fight to regain a place on the Arkansas general
election ballot.
A state judge has ordered Nader off the November second ballot.
Attorneys for the liberal consumer advocate appealed the ruling
by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Timothy Fox to the Arkansas Supreme
Court on Tuesday. Nader claims the order was based on an
unconstitutional reading of state law and that the judge abused his
authority in issuing the order.
Nader wants the state Supreme Court to require written legal
arguments by this afternoon and set oral arguments for tomorrow
morning.
In a lawsuit filed by the state Democratic Party, Fox ruled
Monday that Nader supporters failed to establish a clear
affiliation to a political party, as required by state law.
