Oklahoma Prosecutors Charge Man In Murder Of Arkansas Woman

Updated: January 7, 2009
Prosecutors today expect to arraign a man for the murder of a University of Oklahoma ballet dancer from Benton eight years ago. Twenty-five-year-old Anthony C. Sanchez is already in custody on unrelated charges. Prosecutors say his DNA matches the DNA in semen left by Jewell "Juli" Busken`s killer. His former residence in Norman is one mile from where Busken was abducted. Mary Jean Busken, Juli Busken`s mother, said she wants the person responsible for her daughter`s death to be isolated and unable to hurt anyone else. The Benton woman thanked law enforcement officers for not giving up on the case and thanked Oklahoma and Arkansas residents for praying for the family. Busken had just finished her last semester at OU when she was abducted December 20th, 1996. She was 21.
