Updated: January 7, 2009
The state`s parole board has voted to not consider a clemency request by condemned killer Rickey Dale Newman. Newman didn`t file the clemency request himself. It was filed on his behalf, and Newman said he didn`t want the process to go forward. The Post Prison Transfer Board took up Newman`s application at a meeting today and agreed not to consider it. The filing was made by Betsey Wright of Rogers, who is Newman`s spiritual adviser. Newman is scheduled to be executed September 28th for the February 2001, murder of Marie Cholette in Crawford County.
