A Lonoke County girl is back home Wednesday after she was wounded by a metal rod. Hilary Plafcan, 16, was returning home from a shopping trip when a metal rod entered her car from the ground up. The rod pierced her thigh and side after entering the floorboard and punching a hole in a hardcover book. Officials believe the rod may have fallen off of a truck. Hilary was taken to a hospital attached to her car seat. She spent about an hour in surgery Tuesday night and was back on her feet early Wednesday morning. Hospital officials discharged her Wednesday afternoon.
