Seniors Meet At St. Vincent For Drug Card Seminar

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A small group of seniors, confused about the Medicare Prescription Drug Card, met with nurses at St. Vincent Sunday. The seminar, scheduled to coincide with Grandparents Day, sorted out the confusion over who qualifies for the card. The card made its debut in May and is supposed to save seniors up to 15% on prescription drugs. But fewer than expected signed up, citing confusion as the main reason. After noticing the lack of interest, government officials began holding small meetings with seniors to educate them on the card. Officials are driving confused seniors to the medicare website. The drug card benefit program will end in about 16 months to make way for the Prescription Drug Benefit which debuts in 2006. For more information, go to www.medicare.gov.
