Texas Double Decker Store Holds Walmart and Sam's Club

Sam's Club and Walmart have teamed up for a first-of-its-kind in Dallas, a double decker store.
Walmart will take the top floor and Sam's the bottom, offering people a one-stop shopping experience like no other.
Company officials are hoping Walmart's investment in the Texas city will spur other companies to spend a little time and money in the Lone Star State.
"It's the beginning of our commitment to build more stores in the city of Dallas," says Daniel Morales with Walmart.
The store is located near the corner of Northwest Highway and Skillman.
"We're really proud to be here today with this Walmart on top and a Sam's Club on the bottom that will open in two weeks," Morales says.
Customers who live nearby are packing in, excited about a Walmart store that's closer to home.
"I'm getting school supplies. I have a list," Shopper Barbara McMahan says.
"We decided to come check it out," says another shopper, Melissa Rose.
"We knew it was coming and we were excited and I live fairly close and we had been going to one that's really far off. So when I heard this morning that my daughter said it's open this morning I thought this is where we're coming to get school supplies," says McMahan.
And despite the enhanced store features, like the escalator just for your grocery cart, what's more impactful is how the store will affect the surrounding community.
"300 people are going to be hired at this store and they're going to be neighbors. That helps the economy," says Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings
And this is only the beginning. Walmart plans to open another six stores in the area over the next several years. It's a move Mayor Rawlings hopes will attract more big business to Big D.
"When Walmart invests millions of dollars and they know they can make money, other businesses will say I think the water is safe to go in. And it's very, very safe in Dallas," Mayor Rawlings says.
