Three Arkansas police officers were indicted in Tennessee today on reckless homicide charges after chasing two suspects across the Mississippi River into Memphis and shooting them to death. Sergeant Vance Plumoff and officers John B. Gardener and Tony Galtelli of the West Memphis police department were charged in the death of a female the passenger in the car they were chasing. Fourty Five year old Kelly Anne Allen was shot to death July 18th after a chase of several miles. The driver, 38 year old Donald Rickard of Memphis, also died, but no charges were filed in his death. The chase began after officers tried to stop the car because it had an improper license plate. The officers said they fired their service handguns into the vehicle because it was trying to run them down. The car then crashed through a brick wall and onto the porch of a house. Rickard and Allen were pronounced dead at the scene.
