Wal-Mart wants ban lifted

Wal-Mart wants the state of Arkansas to lift a ban on sales of contact lenses over the Internet. The Bentonville-based retail giant says most states already allow it to deliver contact lenses it sells on the Internet to homes or to stores for customer pickup. The company says Arkansas is one of only four states where the service is not available; the others are Delaware, Montana and Rhode Island. Company executives planned to appear before legislators Thursday to urge them to change an Arkansas law that bars the practice. The law`s intent is to protect consumers from unscrupulous vendors. Today`s hearing is part of an interim study of the state law banning the practice.
