Holiday Traffic Construction Will Be Light

Updated: January 7, 2009
Police are using the Labor Day holiday weekend, which starts today, to make a push against drunken drivers. Police will staff sobriety checkpoints and engage in heavy patrols to keep drunks off the roads. Other safety officials are urging boaters to remember their safety rules. Those include wearing life jackets, avoiding alcohol and using extra caution on crowded rivers and lakes. Motorists on Arkansas interstate highways will find less congestion than in past holidays. On Interstate 40, highway officials say there will be no construction-related lane closures over the weekend.
