Sodomy Suspect Captured

A 41-year-old Arkansas man suspected of sexually abusing a 10-year-old eastern Missouri boy is in custody after a month-long search. Melvin Steagal was arrested around 2:00 Wednesday afternoon in his hometown of Piggott. He is charged with four counts of statutory sodomy from incidents involving a child from O`Fallon, Missouri, in 1997 and 1998. O`Fallon police questioned Steagal on August second and filed an arrest warrant. But before deputies could execute the warrant, Steagal left the state. Extradition proceedings are under way. Bond is set at 100 thousand dollars.
