Wynne college student Princella Smith will speak at the Republican National Convention tonight as the winner of MTV`s essay contest. Smith said on MTV that she doesn`t think of her generation as Generation X. She thinks of it as Generation X-ample. The 20-year-old is majoring in history and political science at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Smith has been recognized for her involvement in community programs to help young people and for teaching black history programs to those in her community. In addition to her speech to the convention tonight, Smith is being trailed by MTV cameras as part of the cable network`s coverage of the GOP convention. MTV and the convention sponsored the contest as part of the "Choose or Lose" campaign to encourage young people to vote. Republicans want to appeal to young voters with their convention program, but according to polls Bush trails Kerry among young adults.
