Updated: January 7, 2009
Five young Arkansans will rub shoulders with top political power brokers as pages at the Republican National Convention in New York next week. Jonathan Gilmore of Roland, David Hobson of Mount Ida, Stephen Hobson of Barling, Christian Olson of Little Rock and Sarah Parks of Greenbrier have been chosen to join 150 other teens working on the floor of Madison Square Garden, helping the delegates and guests. They`re part of a strong youth presence for Arkansas at the convention. The state`s only scheduled speaker at this point is 20 year old Princella Smith, who won an essay contest sponsored by MTV. Some young people will work as pages, responsible for handing out literature and signs for delegates. All will get to attend the Youth Convention on Wednesday, which promises to provide opportunities for the pages to meet dignitaries and media personalities.
