Arkansas Children`s Hospital has been
awarded a 1 point 6 million dollar grant for continuing research on the effects of alcohol. The National Institutes of Health made the grant award to the hospital in Little Rock. The money will pay for a study on how alcohol affects certain genes and the effect of alcohol consumption on the diet. The research is part of a larger look at environmental factors surrounding pregnant women, developing fetuses and children. Arkansas has one of only six national human nutrition centers in the United States. Children`s Hospital one of only two pediatric centers doing the research.
