Don`t Light Up!

Benton city council members are saying don`t light up. But they`re not talking about cigarettes. They`re talking about fireworks. And the use of fireworks is not the only thing that`s now illegal in town, selling the devices is also prohibited. The vote to ban fireworks came after about 40 minutes of debate before the full council. Some say making part of their holiday celebrations illegal means they can`t express their patriotism. They plan a petition drive to get the issue on the ballot this November. Others say the fire threat, noise and trash aren`t worth having fireworks in anybody`s backyard.
